Richard didn't set out to start a business — he set out to help his family. When his grandparents and parents faced the daunting process of downsizing, Richard stepped in to lead the way. What he discovered through those deeply personal experiences was both a calling and a gap: families navigating major life transitions desperately needed more than logistics. They needed a trusted partner.

That realization led him to found Smooth Transitions of Central North Carolina — a full-scope transition service built to serve seniors, empty nesters, individuals with disabilities, those facing divorce, and anyone walking through one of life's most challenging chapters.

Richard brings more than 25 years of executive leadership to this work, with a career spanning healthcare, photography, biometrics, patient safety, and security. For the past 15 years, he has operated at the Vice President and Director level, leading organizations that serve hospitals across the United States. Most recently, before launching Smooth Transitions, he worked closely with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children — a role that reflects the thread running through his entire career: a commitment to serving those who need it most.

He is a proud member of the National Association of Senior Move Managers, a licensed Smooth Transitions franchise owner, and a North Carolina Licensed Auction Firm Agent.

What sets Richard apart isn't just his expertise — it's the way he shows up. Warm, trustworthy, and genuinely passionate about people, he approaches every client's transition with the care of someone who has lived it himself. He is, at his core, a servant leader — one who brings exceptional skill, deep empathy, and an unshakable commitment to exceeding expectations.

When he's not pouring himself into his clients and team, Richard is home with his wife and four children — the people who inspire everything he does.
